Here is a summary of installation techniques and methods for common flow meters, categorized by type:
1. Ultrasonic Flow Meter?
Parameter Settings?: Accurately input pipe outer diameter, wall thickness, material, etc., before installation. The system automatically calculates probe spacing (e.g., ~60mm for V-mount installation on the same side).
Probe Alignment?: Upstream and downstream probes must be installed strictly according to marked directions (red indicates upstream). Connectors should face outward, and probe heads must align with marked positions. Coupling agent must fully fill gaps.
Signal Verification?: After water flow starts, check signal strength (upstream ≥940 recommended) and transmission ratio (>90%). A difference ≤0.05 between upstream and downstream signals indicates proper installation.
2. Electromagnetic Flow Meter?
Straight Pipe Requirements?: Upstream requires ≥10× pipe diameter (D) of straight pipe, while downstream needs 4-5×D to avoid valve or elbow interference.
Vertical Installation?: Fluid must flow upward to ensure full pipe conditions and prevent bubble-related accuracy issues.
Directional Marking?: The arrow must align with flow direction, and pressure ports must be correctly connected (multi-hole side as positive pressure).
3. Turbine Flow Meter?
Full-Pipe Operation?: Must be installed at the lowest point or vertically upward to prevent errors from non-full pipe conditions.
Straight Pipe Reserve?: For horizontal installation, leave 15D upstream and 5D downstream (D = pipe diameter). For elbows, leave 20D upstream and 5D downstream.
Wiring Standards?: Red wire connects to 24V power, blue to signal terminal, and yellow to pulse output.
4. General Precautions?
Pipe Cleaning?: Remove welding slag and debris before installation to avoid clogging pressure ports.
Maintenance Design?: Insertion-type flow meters should include ball valves and drain ports for easy pipeline isolation during maintenance.
